§ 9-20. Emergency fire watch.
(a)
The fire chief or his designee may require the establishment of an emergency fire watch whenever the fire chief or his designee determines it necessary to station fire rescue personnel at an occupied building with a disabled fire alarm system or disabled fire suppression system, or when there is an immediate threat to life safety. The fire watch shall be staffed by one (1) or more certified fire safety inspectors and/or firefighters. Termination of the fire watch will be at the sole discretion of the fire chief or his designee.
(b)
The owner, agent, or lessee who is responsible for the building shall pay the actual labor costs of the fire watch, plus an additional twenty-percent administrative processing fee. Payment of the fire watch fees are due within thirty (30) days after the city mails the invoice to the owner, agent or lessee. A late payment penalty shall accrue at a rate of five (5) percent per month or per any part of a month that the payment is past due.
