Chapter 10. GARBAGE AND TRASH/UNSANITARY AND UNSIGHTLY CONDITIONS/ABANDONED REAL PROPERTY |
Article II. RECYCLABLE WASTE |
§ 10-20. Recycling procedure.
(a)
Single-family (any dwelling unit or units that receive curbside garbage pick-up service shall be defined as single-family for purposes of this article only).
(1)
Newspapers (a periodical, usually daily or weekly, printed on newsprint) shall be segregated from all other waste material. The newspapers shall be securely bundled with string or twine or placed in a paper grocery bag or like disposable container and placed out for collection on scheduled days established by the city along with, but separate from, all other refuse at curbside or next to the refuse container used by such solid waste customers. Newspapers shall not be placed in plastic bags or mixed with magazines, telephone directories, cardboard, shiny advertising print or inserts. Adequate precaution shall be made to prevent newspapers from being scattered by the elements.
(2)
Clear glass and aluminum cans shall be segregated from all other waste materials and shall be placed in a container which will be provided for this service by the waste hauler who is retained by the city to remove recyclable waste. The container shall be placed at curbside for collection on scheduled days established by the city, next to the refuse container used by the customer for removal of all other solid waste materials.
(b)
Multi-family (any group of dwelling units that are serviced by bulk containers).
(1)
Newspapers, as defined in section 10-20 (a)(1), shall be placed in a separate container designated for that purpose, which newspaper container shall be located near the bulk container. The newspapers shall be securely bundled with string or twine or placed in a paper garbage bag or like disposable container.
(2)
Aluminum cans shall be placed in a container designated for that purpose, which shall be separate from the newspaper container and which shall be located near the bulk container.
(c)
The recyclable waste services as set forth in this section shall not be optional, but shall be required of all residents to the extent as set forth herein.
