§ 9-6. Fire alarms; certificate of operation required; inspection; cost.

  • (a)

    All fire alarm systems and components thereof within the city limits shall be inspected and tested annually by a Florida-licensed fire alarm company, to determine the working condition of said system.

    (b)

    All findings of a fire alarm system inspection or test performed by a Florida-licensed fire alarm company must be forwarded, in writing, to the city fire department and city building department, within forty-eight (48) hours upon completion of said inspection.

    (c)

    All new fire alarm manual pull stations installed after December 9, 2002 must be secured with an approved underwriters laboratory or equivalent fire alarm cover in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association, standard #72. All existing fire alarm systems installed prior to December 9, 2002 that have been determined by the city to have more than five (5) malicious false alarms activated by a manual fire alarm pull station within a twelve-month period, must install pull station covers within six (6) months of notification by the fire department.

    (d)

    The cost of all such fire alarm inspections, manual pull station covers, and tests shall be the responsibility of the property owner.
