§ 8-5. Filing fee.
(a)
Candidates for elective office in the city shall qualify for such office by the filing of a written notice of candidacy with the city clerk and the payment of a filing fee of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) to the city clerk if the candidacy is for the office of commissioner, and a filing fee of three hundred dollars ($300.00) if the candidacy is for the office of mayor.
(b)
Candidates for elective office shall also pay, at the time of qualifying for office, an election assessment in an amount equal to one (1) percent of the annual salary of the office sought. The election assessment shall be calculated based upon the lowest pay plan salary for the position of commissioner or mayor as of July 1 immediately preceding the first day of qualifying. See F.S. §§ 99.092 and 99.093.
