Chapter 7½. CODE ENFORCEMENT |
Article III. PROCEDURE WITH SPECIAL MASTER |
§ 7½-35. Intent.
It shall be the intent of this article to provide a fair and expeditious process to enforce the city's zoning and technical codes and to correct violations thereof in a manner consistent with all the procedures, requirements and remedies provided for in F.S. ch. 162, as may be amended from time to time.
For the purposes of this article, the following terms, phrases, words, and their derivations shall have the meaning given herein. When not inconsistent with the context, words used in the present tense include future; words in the plural number include the singular number and vice versa. The word "shall" is always mandatory and not merely directory.
City means City of Lauderhill, Florida.
City commission means the City Commission of the City of Lauderhill, Florida.
Code means collectively the City of Lauderhill, Code of Ordinances.
Code inspector means any authorized agent or employee of the city whose duty it is to assure compliance with the codes.
Manager means the city manager.
Notice means a civil violation issued to a violator in accordance with the provisions of this article.
Repeat violation means a violation of a provision of the Code by a person whom the code enforcement special master (or the code enforcement board) has previously found to have violated the same provision of the Code within five (5) years prior to the current violation.
Special master means a person appointed by the city commission to perform all duties and powers outlined in this article.
Uncorrectable violation means a violation, which is irreparable or irreversible in nature, and which cannot be remedied after the violation has been committed because the violation constitutes a single prohibited act rather than an ongoing condition or circumstance.
Violator means that person or entity responsible for a violation of the Code.
