§ 21-34. Duty of engineer to review plans; issuance of permit by clerk; periodic inspections by engineer required; violations.

  • It shall be the duty of the city engineer to review said plans and specifications so submitted prior to the issuance of a building permit, and if the plans and specifications meet the minimum requirements set forth in this article, he shall approve said plans, whereupon the clerk shall issue said permit. The city engineer shall periodically inspect the construction of the sewers, to assure that the sewers are constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications. In the event that the city engineer's inspection reveals that the construction is not in accordance with the plans and specifications and requirements of this article then the city engineer shall notify the party to whom the permit is issued of such violation and, in the event such violation is not cured immediately, then he shall order that all work on the sewers cease until such arrangements satisfactory to the city are made to correct said violation.
