§ 12-181. Definitions.

  • [For the purpose of this article, the following words, terms and phrases shall have the meaning given herein, unless the context indicates otherwise:]

    Special event means any meeting, activity, gathering, or group of persons having a common purpose, design or goal, upon any public or private facility, street, sidewalk, alley, park, or other place or building where the special event substantially inhibits the usual flow of pedestrian or vehicular traffic or which occupies any public area or building and preempts use by the general public. A special event shall include, but not be limited to, a festival, carnival, concert, parade, car show, walk and/or race.

    Special event permit means a permit that is granted by the city that authorizes an individual or organization to host a special event in the city.

    Special event team means specified city department heads or their designee assigned by the city manager to review special event permits.
