§ 4.08. Subpoena powers.

  • The city commission, any committee thereof, the administration of the city or any department thereof, or any board or committee of the city, when duly authorized by ordinance to do so, may conduct investigations or hearings, and, in conjunction with the investigation or hearing, may compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents, and for that purpose, may issue subpoenas which shall be signed by the city clerk and affixed with the city seal. The subpoenas may be served by any police officer or any officer or any person legally authorized to serve subpoenas. Without an enabling ordinance, subpoenas may be issued for purposes of section 3.02, 3.08, and any dispute arising under Section 6.03 of this Charter. Penalties for failure to respond to subpoenas shall be set by ordinance.
