§ 8½-3. Termination of state of emergency.
(a)
Any state of emergency may be terminated at any time by the highest ranked official, as set forth in subsection 8½-1(c), or by a majority vote of the commission.
(b)
If the state of emergency shall be the result of a riot, as set forth in Florida Statutes Chapter 870, such emergency shall terminate seventy-two (72) hours from the time of the declaration thereof unless, prior to that time, the city commission shall vote to extend the state of emergency. Any extensions of that state of emergency shall be for periods of time not to exceed seventy-two (72) hours. All extensions hereunder shall be done only at the request of the highest ranking official, as designated in section 8½-1(c).
(c)
If the state of emergency shall be declared pursuant to Florida Statutes Chapter 252, that emergency shall be for a period of time not to exceed seven (7) days and may be extended beyond this time in increments not to exceed seven (7) days each by the highest ranking official listed in subsection 8½-1(c).
