§ 20-2. Traffic control plan; duty to develop and enforce vested in chief of police.
(a)
The chief of police is hereby designated and authorized to develop a plan of traffic control within the city limits of the city and hereby authorized to determine the need for traffic-control devices as public safety may require.
(b)
The chief of police shall, upon determination that the need for traffic-control devices, such as stop signs, yield right-of-way signs, stop lights, no-parking signs, etc., are necessary in any location within the city, authorize the erection of such signs and such signs shall be erected by the police department or under their supervision as so authorized.
(c)
The chief of police, upon the erection of signs or traffic-control devices, shall provide the city clerk with a written report giving the location and nature of said signs or traffic-control devices and shall further present a report thereof to the council upon its next meeting.
