§ 12-16. Application.

  • Every person engaged in or managing any business, profession or occupation within the city shall apply for a certificate of use and a local business tax receipt, provide all the necessary supporting documentation, pay the requisite business tax, fees, and any penalties which may be due, and obtain from the city, a certificate of use and a local business tax receipt before engaging in such business, profession or occupation. The application shall be made by the individual, if a sole proprietorship, a partner of a partnership, or an owner or officer of a corporation. In the absence of a corporate owner or officer, or a partner, the application may be made by the manager, who will be responsible for the business, profession or occupation as it will be conducted in the city. The form of the application shall be determined by the city. No certificate of use or local business tax receipt will be issued unless the use or occupation being applied for complies with all applicable city land development regulations, building and fire codes, and any state and federal laws and requirements related to that specific business or occupation.
