§ 11-31. Definitions.

  • The following words and phrases, when used in this article, shall, for the purpose of this article, have the meanings respectively ascribed to them as follows:

    Food. All articles used for food, drink, confectionary or condiment by man, whether simple, mixed or compound.

    Food establishment. Any place where foods are sold, kept, stored, offered or exposed for sale, manufactured, slaughtered, prepared or processed as being kosher.

    Food handler. Any person whose duties bring him in contact with foods whereby such handling might convey disease to the consumer.

    Kosher. Sanctioned by the orthodox Hebrew religious requirements.

    Kosher market. A food establishment which advertises itself as trading or selling kosher foods.
