§ 10-22. Fees.

  • (a)

    Collection; application. Each single-family unit within the city, as defined in section 10-20 of this Code shall be charged a fee of three dollars and ten cents ($3.10) per month as a fee for the collection of recyclable waste. Each multifamily unit, as defined in section 10-20 of this Code shall be charged a fee of one dollar and sixty-one cents ($1.61) per month as a fee for the collection of recyclable waste. The fee shall be collected concurrent with and under the same procedures as the city's water and sewer service fees, sections 21-45 and 21-46 of this Code. Application for service under section 21-46 shall constitute application for service under this section. All current applications under section 21-46 which are in effect as of April 27, 1992, shall be applications for this service. The fee as enacted hereunder shall be effective August 1, 2014.

    (b)

    Increase/decrease.

    (1)

    Periodically, the fee as enacted herein may be increased or decreased pursuant to the formula as set forth in section 12 and 13 of the Residential curbside Recycling Agreement, as adopted by Resolution 89-287. A copy of Resolution 89-287 and the Residential Recycling Agreement shall be retained in the clerk's office for public inspection at all times while this section is in effect.

    (2)

    The following increased or new fees are approved:

    a.

    Newspapers; clear glass; aluminum; plastics one, two and three; brown and green glass; and steel cans, single-family residential units: Three dollars and ten cents ($3.10) per unit per month.

    b.

    Newspapers; clear glass; aluminum; plastics one, two and three; brown and green glass; and steel cans, multifamily residential units: One dollar and sixty-one cents ($1.61) per unit per month.
